Tree Markers

Felicity Somerset

Trees stand like sentinels to our history and become a part of our memory. We plant trees to create memorials to those we have loved. We inscribe our names, our loves and our thoughts on the bark to show we were there. These images focus on the bark as it marks a tree’s own passage through time, as well as ways in which human Tree Markers have entwined history and memory.
