Following up on her super successful HMAb Live! Party of last May, CAPIC is pleased to bring Heather Morton out of blog retirement to present an evening of stimulating photo projects and a lively panel discussion on the state of commercial photography in Canada. Part of CAPIC’s national Speakers Series, Toronto’s HMAb Live! Party 2011 will be part inspiration and part information with a heap of socializing and beer thrown in. Presentations start at 7:30 PM, bar opens at 10 PM.
Anyone active or lurking in the annals of commercial photography knows the strength of Heather Morton’s status as a stimulator of discussion in all areas of commercial photography practice. Drawing on her extensive experience as an agency Art Buyer and Photography Consultant, her blog ran for 2.5 years and in that time garnered over 25,000 unique visitors a month. She covered such contentious subjects as Treatment Writing, The Threat of the Flickr Photographer, Motion: Opportunity or Fad? and the Right Way to Promote (trick question- there’s no right answer to this one). In this CAPIC Speaker Series event, Heather and her special guests will introduce the audience to unique photo-based projects, suggest new ways of working with clients and moderate a discussion on the challenges facing image makers and buyers in the ever changing world of advertising. Plus there’ll be beer and lots of networking opportunities with your friends, competitors and clients.
