Sonja Scharf, Russell Brohier

Theatrics exhibition brings together two artists who are inspired by fiction of the past.

Sonja Scharf, through her use of period costumes and props, constructs rich historical photo-based narratives inspired by Renaissance and Pre- Raphaelite great master painters, while photographer Russell Brohier captures the decay of time and neglect on abandoned architectural sites. Brohier’s images of the Satler Theatre in Buffalo present a once plush, ornate house of staged assembly that has since deteriorated through its dormancy. The presence of past eras prevails through the contemporary lens of both artists, encouraging a renaissance of staged dreams through the lens of the camera.
