2007 Open Exhibition

Richard Martin

May 8–June 2, 2007
Gallery at 129 Ossington
129 Ossington Ave

Moving beyond the superficial stereotypes of
Cuba, this exhibition explores the everyday life and
spirit flourishing in the streets of Havana,
Santiago and Guantanamo. Martin's work creates a
stunning and intimate portrait of Cuba and its
people through the dynamic colours and rich
textures, which symbolize their society and
culture. Fragments of buildings, street life and
architectural details are transformed into lyrical
beauty as Martin positions them ambiguously
between the observable and the abstract
