Using lateral thinking and materials from the pedestrian landscape with inherent symbolic natures, such as office supplies, construction and transportation stuffs, Izsa constructs installations to evoke rather then describe ideas about the process of ideas and creating. For the CONTACT installation ...DRAWING A BLANK Izsa substitutes corporeal materials for photographs of, and uses these as building blocks for a large-scale, constructivist-ish installation in her typical ephemeral style (described by one critic as "firmly in the Abstract-Expressionist camp") ---- Coming from Welland, Ontario, Toronto/Duesseldorf artist Tiff Izsa graduated from OCAD and went on to study at the Kunstakademie Duesseldorf in Germany, where she has lived and worked since 2003. Izsa has received awards for her work such as the Toronto Untitled Arts Awards "Best Emerging Artist 2003", and has had many favourably mentions and reviews including a focus as one of NOW Magazines young artists to watch in 2004 and more recently the cover and feature article of Eye Weekly in February 2006.
