Photojournalist Larry Towell will present images and video, accompanied by live music, poetry and lyrics. As Larry takes us on a journey from El Salvador to Afghanistan and back again, he will be accompanied by harmonica aficionado Mike Stevens. Come hear a passionate photographer talk about his experience in the field far from home, as well as right here in his own backyard.

Admission: $9 as part of ROM Friday Night Live (6:30 - 11pm).

Larry Towell was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1953 and has worked in areas of conflict from Central America to the Middle East since the early 1980s. He joined Magnum Photos in 1993. In 1996, he completed a ten-year project on El Salvador, and in the following year published a major book on Palestine. He completed a highly acclaimed book on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in 2005, and in 2008 released the award-winning, The World From My Front Porch, a project about his family in rural Ontario. Between 2008 and 2011, Towell made five trips to Afghanistan focusing on landmine victims, increased drug addiction, poverty, dispossession, and exile.
