Venezia Today

Elizabeth Terri Dixon

The images in this exhibition explore Venice today. The city’s birth, in 473 AD, was a humble one, as people fleeing the mainland found safety amidst the marshes of the lagoon. Now those waters, once protective, are rising. The “Acqua Alta” siren sounds. The art must be kept dry. Venice lives on, and “Volare” is still sung by gondoliers to couples as they glide down the Grand Canal.
