Picturing Toronto: Photography and the Making of a Modern City by Sarah Bassnett

Stephen Bulger Gallery
1356 Dundas St W

Picturing Toronto investigates photography’s role in the liberal reform of early twentieth-century Toronto. It shows how photographs by Arthur Goss and others were at the heart of debates over what the city of Toronto should look like, how it should operate, and under what conditions it was considered appropriate for people to live.
