In this exhibition of new work, Krista Belle Stewart continues her long-standing engagement with the complexities of archival material through processes that allow for both intimacy and coincidence, and the atemporal meeting of actors across time. Work for this exhibition was produced in part following Stewart’s participation in the Future Narratives: Contemporary Indigenous Artistic Practice residency at the Banff Centre this April, led by the Art Gallery of Ontario’s curator of Canadian and Indigenous art, Wanda Nanibush. Through video, photography, design, ephemera, and textiles, Stewart straddles the gaps between personal and institutional histories through transparent mediation.

Stewart is a member of the Upper Nicola Band of the Okanagan Nation and is currently based in Vancouver, B.C.
