For the final night of the exhibition True North - X, artist Kali Spitzer will be giving a talk in the gallery at 6pm.
Spitzer's work focuses upon cultural revitalization whether in the medium of photography, ceramics, tanning hides, or hunting. After moving to B.C. at an early age, Spitzer went home to the Yukon in her 20s to spend time with her Elders and to engage with her traditional culture. Her collaborative tintype portraits, which are part of the exhibition, aim to empower Indigenous women by photographing them as they want to be represented.
