This workshop is presented by Gallery 44 – click here to register through Eventbrite.
Casting an intimate gaze on the erotic realm, this workshop invites participants to consider the roles of pleasure, sensuality and eroticism in their everyday lives. Drawing from a range of contemporary image-based practices, artist Steven Beckly will demonstrate various ways of shaping the erotic through image, object and encounter. Attending to the nuances and subtleties of the everyday, we will look at aesthetic strategies, including materiality, installation, and collaboration, that can expand our understanding of the erotic. Probing the erotic image as a radical space of meaning, we will uncover and explore the complexities emerging from visual representation, desire, beauty and power.
